Filler: Honduran, Nicaraguan, Dominican
Binder: Connecticut Broadleaf
Manufactured In: Honduras
The Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra happens to be one of my favorite cigars. If I could afford a box at a time I would buy them this way, but usually I just get them a stick or two at a time. This full-bodied cigar gets its name from the wrapper, a sun grown dark Sumatra seed. Of course, what would a premium cigar be without a Connecticut grown leaf in there? In the case of the Dark Sumatra it is used as the binder.
Perhaps the most interesting part of the Dark Sumatra is that it is wrapped in a thin sheet of cedar. This is the perfect cigar for someone seeking a long, even burn and a very dark flavor.
